WE ARE BUYING A HOUSE!!!!!

Yep. That's right we are buying a house. It has come to us as a surprise and quite fast. As many of you know there are a lot of forclosures in California. Mike and I have been passively looking at homes for the last few years. Mostly new, but keeping our eye open for some older homes. In our home we were looking for a 2 story with 4 bedrooms, loft, balcony, 3 car garage, big backyard, ideally in the area we are currently living, and of course affordable.

Well, thanks to my uncle who is a real estate agent and is always keeping he eyes open for deals in the area, he came across a few in the area (without knowing we would even be interested) and presented some to us. We found one that we love.

It is everything we wanted and more. It is around the corner from where we are living now. In addition to what we wanted (which is has everything) it is over 2200 square feet, has five bedrooms, granite squares in the kitchen, wood shutters in the main living areas, a bar, tile througout parts of the down stairs, a cedar lined master bedroom closet, and a lot more smaller upgrades.
It is in need of a lot of work - it is a foreclosure after all. We need to clean and paint everything, clean carpets (new carpets when we can afford to), new lighting in the bathrooms, new furnace, fix part of the fence, needs new grass and plants, and some smaller stuff. I have no idea where we are going to get the energy to do it all but we are really excited.

It is a great deal. At the peak it was selling for the mid 400's we are getting it in the mid 200's. Escrow is scheduled to close on March 10, we are hoping earlier. But I will keep you posted.
