Isabelle Rose Eckholdt - 2 Days Old
She is Here!!!!
As you read below I was awaiting an induction. At 8:30 I called the hospital to get a status on availability. They told me that they would call me as soon as one of the two labors currently taking place were finished and they would have me come in. About 5 minutes later came the first "true" contraction of many ( I had been having false labor contractions all day). So after they remained constant and got closer together we headed to the hospital around 10:15pm. Come to find out they would have called me in at about Midnight. But no induction needed!
I was able to get an epidural which helped with the contractions but I still felt a lot of pain through the birthing process. Don't think they had the drip on enough. It was a completely different experience than Addison. And when she came out.... What a chunky monkey - I mean 9 pounds! I would have never thought I would have such a big baby. No wonder I have been so uncomfortable for so long - she really was big, it wasn't just my imagination.
Isabelle and I after Labor
Unfortunately the first day and night I did not get much sleep because we shared a postpartum room and the other baby cried a lot. Yesterday and today was much better because I had the room all to myself and was able to get some sleep - finally.
We had to stay in the hospital and extra day because Isabelle had Jaundice and needed to do light treatments from 8am in the morning to midnight - so sad. They would bring her back to me to feed. But it did give me some time to sleep. This morning she was all better and we were able to go home.
This is what she looked like with her mask for being under the light. The red blotches on the side of her face in the first pic were due to this mask.
Addison is taking everything surprisingly well. She won't get near her (because for some reason she things dolls and babies are "scary") But is accepting of us holding Isabelle and is willing to have her around. The look almost identical to one another when they were born - Isabelle is just bigger and chubbier.

Congratulations! She is gorgeous. What a beautiful family!
Love from the East Coast, Jane
What a beautiful wonderful girl! Congrats to you all, God's blessings on you!
So precious! Congratulations :) Marcus and I think that she looks like you. Which is weird because normally it's hard to tell so soon...but we think you have another "mini me" on your hands. Congrats!
Congrats she is sooo beautiful! Yes I can not believe you had a 9 lb baby especially looking at those pictures from your reunion. Bodie had jaundice too I know how awful an experience that is especially when they have to get the IV in their tiny little arm :( I am so glad to hear you guys are at home, comfortable and doing well :) Congrats again.
Congratulations!! I also think she looks like you Melissa... she is beautiful! I hope you are recovering well!
Wonderful new birth story, Mel. I am sorry that Isabelle had jaundice. It's good that she recovered well and was able to go home with you all. She is cute. I could imagine the birthing to be difficult with a 9lb baby. No baby shower this time? I would have been happy to take more photographs. :)
