God has been ever present in all aspects of my life lately. I created a mission statement two years ago for my life and my career and it hold true and is ever present in my mind lately: My mission to use what God has given me to help those around me. God is always present in my life and in all my decisions. But lately God has place a number of things on my heart to pursue.
When it comes to music I typically switch back and forth from KFROG (country) to Air1 (Contemporary Christian). But lately my radio has been on Air 1 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Music has such a strong influence in all of our lives. The right song will play at just the right moment to help bring peace, hope or understanding to our current situations. I do a lot of field based work which means a lot of driving, and being able to hear God's message throughout the day really helps me stay grounded. A few weeks ago Air 1 was having a pledge drive since they are a listener supported radio station (no commercials). I have given one time donations in the past but it was really on my heart to give again. One message they had was that faith is the opposite of fear and if we are fearful of doing something than we are not having faith in God's ability to take care of us. There is also a newly released song by Britt Nicole titled "Walk on Water" such an amazing song. This song helped me to know that it was my time to support something that I believe is helping myself and those who also listen. This also helped me decide that it was time to stop talking about needing to find a church and to taking the step of faith and pray and let God lead me to a church. A close friend and co-worker of mine goes to Lamb Fellowship, as did some other friends of ours years ago (before they moved away :(. ) and as I was driving by the church on Thursday night they had a sign up to Celebrate Recovery. The word Recovery was such a sign to me because every day I am helping people recovery from their troubles, and the mental health field is changing from a Medical Model to a Recovery Model. Then I went home and saw that they have a number of bible study and community meetings throughout the week. So I not sure if this will be the right church for us, but it is the first step in finding the right one. So the girls and I are going to church tomorrow morning (Mike had a prior commitment). I could have waited till next week when Mike would be able to go, but then I would just be pushing off something that I have been setting aside for so many years. I just have to take the leap and go.
So... although this blog is long winded I wanted to share what has been going on with me spiritually lately. God continues to take care of me and my family and I am so thankful for that that we have.
Please check out AIR 1 at http://www.air1.com/. They are nation wide and online. They are not a gospel station but a Positive Alternative Station that spreads the word of God through amazing contemporary music.
